Everquest 2

At the end of January 2005, most people I know have left City of Heroes for World of Warcraft. Of the 2 of my regular partners, one disappeared since October 2004, and the other one left for WoW in Jan 2005. So I began searching for a new MMO to call home..

First I tried Anarchy Online. It was fun, even though it might be an old game. I loved the concept of it, being in space and on a new planet. I had tried something similar in the past – Project Entropia. However it didn’t turn out that good in PE because there are no missions/quest, just lots of hunting and selling of items. Very boring after a few weeks.

Then, one of my regular partners turned up on Yahoo Messenger, and I got her into Anarchy Online. She did play up to level 8 before disappearing again, and I have not seen her since. That was back in Feb or so when she appeared. We played on and off until mid-March or so when she pulled another disappearing act.

So, while I still had a game to play, AO was fast becoming boring because it was harder than heck to get a group (I like to group even though I can solo, because I can make friends). The only single time I managed to get a group for anything was the ONE time I did at the Temple of the Three Winds up north.

So I checked Everquest 2 out. Saw the trailers, and was almost instantly sold. I ran out and bought a copy of it even without downloading the trial. I registered an account with Sony on March 21st.

Amazingly it has only been ONE MONTH since I have entered the fascinating world of Norrath (Everquest 2). On my first day in there, I happen to get lucky and run into a very kind player who wasn’t new and showed/helped me around the newbie island personally. His character name was Xeal (was, because it’s deleted now). After that I ran into him a few more times when I was sub-level 10. Then, he never came back on my friends list until last week when I managed to catch one of the mains online.

We had a chat and he/she told me Xeal is gone – deleted. So, I ran and formed a group with him/her in Nektulos forest, and turned out this character is a female Ratonga. So, he could be like Sunfalcon, who is a guy but plays a female character. However, like CoH, I found that the majority of the female characters in EQ2 were really females in real life.

Anyway, I was thinking today that I should stop making game-specific blogs and do one “generic” gaming-related one, and I remembered this place which Gamespot had provided free, so I thought I’d start updating this again. I will have to work on my website to update the links to point to this webpage for my general game-related blogs

So, anyway, in EQ2, today’s Live Update 7 – meaning a lot of patches coming in. Servers are currently still down though, hence I am here blogging instead of there playing! Heheheh!
